I've been home more throughout the summer than I have for much of the past school year. I love it! I enjoy going home almost every time. I had the chance to celebrate Mother's and Father's days and see the show my sister was in. I even had a chance to spend time with my grandparents. It's the best. I am so thankful that I have a family that lives nearby as well as gets along really well. But here's what happens when I'm home:
Home is...
... early mornings
... granola bars
... Skyping my brother
... mowing the lawn
... sister time
... TV and/or yard work with dad
... snacking and movie watching with mom
... slow wi-fi
... home church smiles, hugs, and handshakes
... hanging out with my best gals
... laughing so much that I'm crying
... hugs
I haven't taken tons of pictures while I'm home, but it's only because I'm having so much fun!

Happy Fourth of July!
I love Google. (If the words in the logo are hard to read, they are: "This land was made for you and me")
So far, life is normal. I'm waitressing and doing stuff for the family. Today I'll be doing "no-bake" things. Pictures to come!
I also have the honor of playing my French horn and helping with hair and makeup for this show at the community theatre! It's looking really great! Opening night is Thursday, so come on out! The show runs this weekend only, so be there or be square! I'm not very good at playing, but I like to pretend! It's set in the 50's, so I have so much fun doing makeup and hair!! It's my favorite decade! I am not allowed to post pictures from behind the scenes until after the show, so you'll have to wait until after Sunday. But they will come as well!
I really hope you have a safe and blessed holiday! Sing a good ole' 'Merican song today! :)

Emily's Adventures!!
So many cool and exciting things are happening in my life!!! NĂºmero uno: I found out June 1 who my roommate is and where I'll be staying in the ISU dorms! I'm on the 10th floor! My floor is co-ed, so I'll have to take more precautions than if it was an all-girl floor. Yet, I can't wait! Anyone have tips on secret necessities at college??? Btw, my roomie's a red-head! How crazy is that?!? Number two: I have started the procedure to STOP biting my nail!! It's so hard! But I have beautiful nails currently!! (except the one I had to cut because it tore. sadness) It's amazing how fast nails grow when you don't bite them! :) I've also decided not to chop my hair until December at least. I might then decide to not cut until May, but maybe by then it'll weigh 5 pounds! Numbah drei: I saw Wicked May 28th. It's pretty cool! Not only am I in love with the music, but the plot totally rocks! What I was truly amazed by was the set and the mechanics that happened. They were super cool!! Like the last musical I saw, I definitely suggest it! Even if you have loved the music like myself, go check it out; there were some outstanding surprises!! The digit four: I'm all signed up for classes!! I'm taking a couple journalism courses because that's my major, but also English, a leadership class, and government. I love gov. Is da best. Okay, maybe not THE best, but I do love voicing my opinion! Did you know that college is really expensive???? Like, really. Yeah. Goodbye expensive social life, hello work. :( I checked the bookstore for all my books and will price-shop soon to get the best deals. I'll definitely have used books, except for maybe one. Cinq: I had my grad party, and was so totes blessed by all my family!!!! There were times I wanted to cry with gratitude. I would like to say "THANKS!" here to get it out 'early' but am working on thank you notes as much as I can.
I've been working on this post for a while. Sorry for some tardiness. Love to you all!

Why my life needs a script. Part II
Here's the cool part about NOT knowing the future:
With other news, I just had my potentially final Community Theatre audition. :( The cast list comes out Friday, and my sis (who also tried out) and I totally can't wait!! The show is all about the 80's and sounds pretty rad! If you know what I mean. ;) I'll let you know how it turns out!
Summer is here!! I got all gigiated-- graduated for all you 'proper silly people'. (I get that way too, don't worry) While sis and mom (teacher) are in school, I twiddle my thumbs and do all sorts of housework. Ok, not all sorts. Maybe I grab the clean plates out of the dishwasher or throw the jeans in the wash. "It's the least I can do. And I always do the least I can do." ~Thanks, Dad. :)
"For I know the plans I have for you," says the LORD. "They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope." Jer. 29:11 NLTHow neat is that??? Yes, go check out the funny youtube video! (My blogging skills are getting better!) And back to the main reason for this post. In order to not screw up some super awesome plans SET BY GOD, we have to trust Him fully! Personally, I have a tough time with that; I'm a control freak who likes things done her way. But God has taught me some lessons along the way. I CAN'T help everyone or be there EXACTLY when they need me. While this fact kinda sucks, I know I have to let God do His thang. Do you guys want to know what's even better than that???? He can't screw up EVER, unlike us!!!

Here I Am!
Sorry if you thought I deserted you. Not really the case. Life caught up with me, and, well, you know how it goes.
The play went really well. I've had a second "last". First, last mock trial competition and now my last high school show. It kinda made me tear up! :( I will miss being a part of the drama department and the family we have made. I still have a community theatre show coming up this summer, but then that may be a final last. Sadness!! :( But I also now have my life back and can do the procrastination that needs to be done. I wish I had the motivation to become self-motivated outside of school. That's one of my worst flaws, but of course, there are many.
Prom is this weekend. Graduation is next month. My life is falling down around me. My world is falling apart. Okay, okay, it's a little dramatic. (and by a little, I mean a LOT) The first two are true. And I can't quite keep up. I have a project due this Friday, and I haven't done much on it. I told myself I would do two chapters on the thing, but I have to muster up some mighty motivation. And my graduation party is a week earlier than my commencement, so the cleaning has to be done a week sooner as well. There's a chance I could die. Typically, I can find much better things to do than a project or cleaning. This could be my best attribute or terrible flaw, but I accept myself and love me for me! So there! (I'm losing maturity points, I can tell; I'm practically to 6! haha)
But April 30 I get to go to Omaha and see Les Miserables!!!!!!!! I'm sooooooooooooooo grateful I have the awesomest dad EVER!!! It's okay to be jealous of how cool my father is, I would be too. ;) (don't worry, the room I'm sitting in is fairly large, my head can't expand beyond the walls) I will say I love you all and will blog about how amazing it is and how you all need to put it on your bucket list.
Ciao!

Life, alas, caught up with me again.
(See title for first line) I have been busy going to Super State in LGS, districts in Mock Trial, auditioning for the spring play "The Creature Creeps", and going to districts for Indy Speech! LGS finished with All State "Super State" behind me and mock trial is done with no State ahead. Not getting to go to state mock trial is a little sad as a senior but freeing as well.
This Saturday, I will participate in State Individual Speech. At state, I will be rated, and then 2 out of 3 judges will hopefully nominate me to perform at All State! :) I went last year, so hopefully a repeat!
And the spring play is in full swing! I get to be behind the scenes this time as Stage Manager, "the director behind the curtain" - if I do say so myself. I take people's places when they're gone, make sure I know everything that's going on, and I GET TO WEAR A HEADSET!!! (You know, the kind that makes you look like a secret agent, or a trucker.) So far, I've been 5 different people!! And I've had to be two people at the same time! It's so much fun!!
Here's the plug for the latest cool musical in the world of Emily: Les Miserables. Not new by any means, but re-popped into my world. I watched the 25th Anniversary Concert on PBS last week, and it totally blew my mind!!! It was fabulous!!! :D I even thought Nick Jonas did great! If you ever get a chance, watch it!!
That's all for now! Until I remember again! ;)

Passions
So I have returned to some of my passions! Writing, architecture, and reading!! With the show done, (it went fabulously, by the way) I have so much more time on my hands. Although with this newly acquired time, my parents expect me to use it on something "worthwhile" aka: cleaning m room and car. It really does need done! If my motivation lasts long enough, maybe I'll even start in on my closet?!?!
One of my fave things to assist motivation is: Pandora! What it is: Internet radio. I have it as an app on my iPod, but you can also use it on the computer on pandora.com. It allows you to listen to songs in a similar genre that YOU want to listen to! You can listen to pretty much anything, and it's free! Give it a try!
And it's official: there is SNOW!!! I don't mind it as long as it doesn't come at a bad time! :) Somehow, my dog becomes super active during the winter, or as active as an old dog can get. I hope the nice, fluffy stuff comes soon! I feel a holiday party coming as soon as the snow comes!

Oh, poop. Try, try again, right?
So it's been a month. Okay, a little over. My bad! (see title) Well, first quarter is over, and so is All State. I didn't make it, but I'm okay! I was bummed, but I'm okay now! Yesterday, in fact, I sang the national anthem at the regional volleyball game!
Now I can focus on the musical The Secret Garden. I am the Ayah, Mary's Indian nanny. Technically, I'm dead, but I come back as a ghost and creep on Mary with my cohort, Fakir. It's a little weird, but cool at the same time. I recommend it and not just because I'm in it. I also recommend the book by Frances Hodges Burnett and movie!
School is going well! Composition is gonna kick my butt, though, if I don't get mine into gear! (That class is ironically the class I'm procrastinating right now.) If you would like to buy traditional, turtle, or pumpkin cheesecake, please let me know! (please insert nice wish here for 11:11!) Tomorrow is a 12:30 out for teacher inservice and next week Friday is no school!! Thank goodness! It's about time!! :)
The college search is still on! I have it limited to ISU and UNL. Maybe this is mean, but whatev, I'm going to say it: although I don't really want to see a bunch of kids from my school at my college, either one is a great school! I do need to finish my applications and send them in soon, though!
Thanks for reading through my random, kinda lame life! Until I remember (procrastinate) again!

So much music!
So this past week or so has been one of the best in my life! I had the performances for "A Midsummer Night's Dream". They went wonderfully! Thank you to those who were able to attend! :) Also, last Friday and Saturday, I was able to attend a family reunion for my Grandpa and his cousins. It was a lot of fun to be able to talk to the different family members from all over! Then, after the Sunday matinee, I quickly left for pre All State choir camp. I was able to see most of my friends from a different town!! Camp is crazy fun. Monday night I watched 'Iron Man' with some of the girls, and Tuesday was the dance. The dance ended up kinda lame. The songs were dumb, and many of the guys acted like they were in middle school: lame! Whatever! The concert went really well, and I can't believe that I'm already beginning my senior year! Band Camp was the day after All State camp, and that was so much fun! I love band. :) We are playing Billy Joel music this year, and it's really starting to come together! My voice sounds slightly terrible, but it will get better soon; I'm not worried. :) Today, I am able to go to my cousin's wedding. Congratulations to Vern and Natasha!

Consistency.. not really my thing
So I'm horrible at being consistent! It's a flaw, what can I say? Anyways, Midsummer Night's Dream is really coming along! Tonight, we do full costumes, hair, and makeup! We are allowed to design our own hair and makeup for this show, so I'm trying to be creative. All State camp starts next Sunday, and I'm super excited to see all my friends from another town! For those who don't exactly know what all state camp is for, it's a choir camp where everybody gets to sing about 9 hours a day for 3 days! I'll try to be more consistent in the future, but (I make no promises). :)

Production Processes
So it's been a bit since I've published anything. Work and day trips seem to fill my days. Nights belong to the show "A Midsummer's Night Dream" as Mustardseed at my community theatre. It's going well, and as fairies, we have started doing some ballet before rehearsal! It includes lots of stretching and some ballet positions. I need to do some more research on the different movements and positions included in this beautiful art-form. We've learned five positions, and I can't wait to learn more! Tonight at rehearsal is our first run through of the entire show, off book (without scripts). We can still call for "line", but hopefully, the majority won't have to. :) Sunday, we can't even call out for our lines! The show is coming together very nicely and two weeks from today, it opens at the city bandshell! Maybe we can see you there!
