Start Spreading the News...

No, I'm not leaving today. Sorry for getting your hopes up.

Today marks "Spread the Word to End the Word". This campaign fights to stop the use of the 'r-word' or "retard" and other uses of the word. Connected to the Special Olympics, people can pledge here not to use this derogatory term. People with mentally handicapped people are so special in God's eyes and often don't get the same respect. Respect for all people is the goal and the suggested new 'r-word'. You don't have to pledge, I just thought I would bring this to your attention. Thanks for reading! (but keep going)

Also, you might have seen this video sweeping social media. If you haven't seen it and have 30 minutes to spare, please watch. (DISCLAIMER: Some graphic images.) It was only brought to my attention last night, but I think it's important. Every person has the right to live and live without fearing for their lives every day.

If nothing else, please pray for all people affected by these campaigns. Thanks for reading my advocacy post! :)

  1. As a journalist, we sometimes have to backtrack. Our job is to tell the audience both sides of the story. I recently found out a different side to the Kony story at visiblechildren.tumblr.com. Please check it out. Just for the record, I'm not an official journalist, but it's my major... Thanks!!
